Biography
Michael currently works as a general assignment reporter for Oklahoma City's top-rated 10 p.m. newscast on KWTV News 9. Before joining one of the most successful CBS affiliates in the country, Michael worked as a general assignment reporter at Indiana's NewsCenter (ABC21 and NBC33) in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Before joining Indiana's NewsCenter, Michael's work could be seen on the primetime newscasts of FOX 7 WTVW in Evansville, Indiana.
Early on, Michael received various accolades for his work. He is a proud graduate of Ball State University and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Telecommunications. While at Ball State, Michael was named winner of Fox News Channel's College Challenge for a story he produced on the revitalization of Gary, Indiana. His story was selected from thousands of submissions by college students throughout the United States, which netted a $10,000 scholarship and a matching grant for the university. In 2011, the Associated Press Broadcasters Association of Oklahoma honored Michael with an award for best reporter portfolio.
Michael's first television job was in Chicago. He served as a Web reporter during a summer-long internship at WLS-TV/ABC7, the city's top-rated television station. During his time at ABC7, Michael produced daily Web-exclusive video reports for ABC7's website. He also had the privilege of working closely with Emmy Award-winning anchor/reporter Ravi Baichwal.
For three years, Michael served as host the Emmy Award-winning television magazine show, Connections Live, on PBS affiliate WIPB-TV (Indianapolis DMA). His role with the television program went well beyond the scope of being host. Michael produced various feature pieces in the style of the show's extraordinary and unique story-telling tradition.
Prior to Michael's work in the television industry, he was honored to serve the people of an area he calls home. Michael was a Congressional Intern for Indiana's First Congressional District at the Office of U.S. Rep. Pete Visclosky. The experience allowed him to see first-hand how the congressman's district office managed media communication and interactions with constituents.
